"Western financiers are discriminating against African oil and gas projects, and it's time to hold them accountable," said AEC Executive Chairman Nj Ayuk. "They claim to be concerned about climate change, but they're happy to finance fossil fuel projects in other parts of the world. This is hypocrisy of the highest order."

The AEC's decision to take legal action comes after years of frustration with Western financiers. In recent years, several Western banks and financial institutions have implemented policies aimed at reducing their exposure to the African oil and gas industry.
